English Through Football Podcast 2019-20: Week 4 North London Derby
Introduction
DB: You are listening to
languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast.Hello everyone and welcome to the Learn English Through Football podcast for all those who love the
beautiful gameof football and for those who are aiming to improve their English language skills. Now, I’ve got a little message here from Damian, who has sent in a recording from his travels in Europe.
DF: Hello everyone, unfortunately I cannot be with you live today as I am still travelling – I have left behind the Neymar Jr transfer gossip in France and am now in the beautiful country of Croatia. I was in the capital, Zagreb, earlier in the week and saw Dinamo Zagreb book a place in the Champions League group stage after drawing in Norway with Rosenburg – they will face a tough group with Italian side Atalanta, English champions Manchester City and Shakhtar from The Ukraine. I reached Split yesterday, a really beautiful city on the west coast of the country and the football-mad locals were very happy indeed last night as their side, Hajduk Split, defeated their big rivals Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 – the highs and lows of football for the Zagreb club there.
Now, I mentioned the Champions League draw which took place this week and there were some interesting groups – maybe the toughest (the group of death) involves three former winners in Barcelona, Inter and Dortmund. I am not so sure about Tottenham’s group – favourites will be Bayern Munich but it also includes Greek side Olympiakos and Red Star from Belgrade (Crvenza Zvezda). Damon what do you think of the draw for the group stages?
