Chelsea vs Manchester City is the big game in the Premier League this week, and it features in our
predictions at the end of the show. There’s news about a remarkable woman footballer in our review section, the big football derbies in the Premier League and we also had a full set of mid-week fixtures. We’ve also got a football quiz question and some English for football. Learn English Through Football Podcast: Chelsea vs Manchester City
DF: You are listening to
languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Hello and welcome. You are listening to the podcast for all those who love
the beautiful game of football and who want to improve their English language skills. My name is Damian and I am usually in London, but this week I am in Tokyo with Damon for a rare face-to-face live recording of the podcast. Hello Damon!
DB: Hello Damian, and welcome to Tokyo. It’s been a while since you lived in Japan hasn’t it!
DF: Yes it has – over three years now and it’s great to be back if only for a few days.
DB: And how was your conference trip to Hong Kong last week?
DF: It was good to be back there too and I watched a lot of football in many of my old haunts – there are a lot of hardcore football fans of the Premier League there in Hong Kong. I watched Man City easily overcome Bournemouth 3-1 and then unfortunately I saw Tottenham lose the North London derby 4-2 the next day. Did you watch any of the derbies last weekend Damon?
DB: I certainly did! Liverpool got three precious points when it looked like they would have to settle for a draw. So, we’re still breathing down Manchester City’s neck!
