Dr. Miriam Sweeney is an assistant professor in the School of Library & Information Studies at the University of Alabama. She is a critical cultural digital media scholar who studies anthropomorphic design, virtual assistants, voice interfaces, and AI through the lenses of race, gender, and sexuality. Her current project, Facing Our Computers: Identity, Interfaces, and Intimate Data, explores the linkages between identity, design, and dataveillance in AI voice assistants, digital assistants, and chatbot interfaces.
