Flipping over to the defensive side of football after looking at standouts from Arizona State Sun Devils football's spring practice sessions, we find ourselves with more than a handful of guys to highlight. Every level of defense had young and green players to savvy veterans who made an impact and were impossible to overlook. Perhaps the biggest of all these guys was senior pass rusher Elijah O'Neil, who has an opening before him to become a full-time starter. O'Neil has showcased significant growth entering his (likely) final season with the Sun Devils and a strong training camp will surely earn him some significant playing time. Some of his partners in crime, including Clayton Smith, C.J. Fite, Jacob Kongaika, and Jeff Clark also stood out along the defensive line. The linebacker room had plenty of playmakers, but redshirt freshman K'Vion Thunderbird caught our eye the most. In the secondary, it was impossible to narrow it down to just two or three standouts, but both redshirt and non-redshirt freshmen like Keontez Bradley, Montana Warren, Tony Lewis-Nkuba, and Rodney Bimage made their presences felt alongside veterans like Xavion Alford and LT Welch.
