A scintillating Forest performance saw the Reds carry a slender advantage into Tuesday's home leg. In truth, the away team should have put the match to bed in the first half, with a number of good chances bringing near misses and decent saves from Wes Foderingham (especially the double save from Surridge and Johnson). However, Forest will be delighted, having taken an early lead from Jack Colback and then doubled the advantage with Brennan Johnson's cool finish after good work from Joe Lolley. Sander Berge scored a soft late goal from a corner to give the Blades hope for the second leg (and give Paul Heckingbottom the chance to engage in some amateur mind games), but if Forest can reproduce their attacking display from today, they will be confident about the prospects of making the final. Tom Newton was at the game, and reports back in conversation with Steven Toplis.
