Episode 111 Douglas 'Doug' McMillinOn March 8th, 2009, just a couple days shy of his 20th birthday, Douglas 'Doug' McMillin was shot dead by intruders in his Allouez, Wisconsin home. Doug was shot in front of friends and witnesses as he tried to resist the intruders. The killers fled into the night and years later, the case remains unsolved. The investigation was hampered early on due to witnesses not fully cooperating, and police had to consider that the motivation for the home invasion and murder, was due to drugs and money being kept in the home. Doug admittedly dealt drugs which may have put him in harm's way. But who Doug was as a person can't be simply boiled down to 'Drug-Dealer'. He was much more. He was a kind, well-liked person with an artistic side, and a view of the world that was perhaps beyond his years. He was the type of person that made an impression with his younger brother James describing him as a "super nova" that he looked up to.His cold blooded murder devastated his family, and for the better part of a decade, James, has felt guilt that perhaps he introduced the killers to Doug. James discusses that in this episode, as well as what he feels are shortcomings in the handling of Doug's caseIf you have any information about Doug McMillin’s murder you are asked to call Sergeant Holschbach at 920-448-6187.
