AB3 isn’t one to squander opportunities. One deer season, however, would come to haunt him for days to come when a bit of impatience forced him to leave the woods empty-handed. This experience reminded him that going on a hunt is an experience that requires your full attention, free of all distractions. Living in a fast-paced world where we’re so used to instant gratification, it’s never been more important to make sure that you enter the hunt with a clear, tranquil mind and with the purpose to decompress and recharge. That means no phones while waiting in the stand—no fantasy football, either!

Listen in as AB3 relates his hard-hitting failed hunt and lessons learned as a result, the issue of racism and prejudice towards hutners of color, and what we can possibly conclude from rising gun sales all around the country.

Episode Highlights

  • The importance of going into a hunt free from the distractions of the modern world
  • AB3’s favorite time to hunt to minimize mind clutter
  • An important message to hunters of color, and how to overcome perceived challenges
  • Why gun sales and the desire for self-sufficiency are rising in America

Three Key Points

  • Get rid of distractions! Whenever you go on a hunt—whether it be deer, duck, quail, turkey, goose, hog, etc.—remember that part of the joy is the opportunity to get away from it all.
  • With hunting numbers going down, particularly for minorities, check your prejudices. If people stubbornly hold fast to their preconceived notions regarding who they think should be out there hunting, the number of hunters will only continue to decline as intolerance rises.
  • There are a number of reasons why gun sales around the country have been going up, and a greater appreciation for self-sufficiency is taking place. But whatever the case may be for different individuals, it’s a great thing in the long run for more Americans to realize the need for self-defense and the ability to produce their own resources.

Three Powerful Quotes

  • One thing I learned about deer hunting: It ain’t over till it’s over.
  • Stay ready; keep your stuff ready; ‘cause you never know when it’s gonna go down.
  • If you people are continuously running folks away because of the high horses that you sit on about what really is and isn’t hunting because of these racist, conservative attitudes that you have, I’m going to tell you, there’s not going to be any hunting left for any of us. The damn thing is going to die out, and you will have nothing to blame but the hatred in your cold, black hearts.
