An Auckland family violence charity has joined the chorus of those warning of the serious risks to those in emergency housing, particularly for vulnerable women who've just come out of abusive relationships. Distressing revelations continue to emerge, including a woman being punched unconscious by another motel resident, putting her in hospital, and leaving her too terrified to return to any form of shared living. Those at the coal face says there's not enough oversight of emergency accommodation motels, with families mixed in with gang members, and many places rife with crime and intimidation.
