Medical jobs are going unfilled due to a crackdown on hospital recruitment, despite health agency Te Whatu Ora's claims to the contrary. RNZ has heard from multiple hospital workers reporting vacant clinical positions and saying the recruitment process is "overly complex and bureaucratic." Te Whatu Ora declined to come on the programme. Health New Zealand Chief Executive Margie Apa says it has exceeded its recruitment expectations despite medical jobs going unfilled due to a hospital hiring pause. Association of Salaried Medical Specialists executive director Sarah Dalton spoke to Guyon Espiner.
