Dianne Morales’ mayoral campaign is in disarray—in all eight staffers have quit or been fired just in the past couple days. Those developments unfolded rapidly—and after this interview was recorded. Morales is a first-time candidate for any office. And If elected she would be  the city’s first woman, first LatinX, and second person of color to be mayor of New York. A Bed-Stuy native and single mother, she is a non-profit executive and former educator who has worked both in the school system and in the Department of Education. She had also frequently been characterized in the mainstream media as the most progressive candidate in the slate of top mayoral contenders.
