Submit ReviewIt’s been another busy week around here and that means we’re back with a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to help get you through what’s left of your day while also make sense of everything going on with the Oilers and around the NHL. On this week’s show, we looked at Darnell Nurse's contract extension, goaltending, and a whole lot more.
To kick off today’s podcast, we jumped in with a look at the Oilers' goaltending situation leading into 2021-22 and whether or not we'll the exact same duo for the third tour of duty or if Ken Holland will make a move to bolster the pairing. Does Alex Stalock factor into the equation? What about Ilya Konovalov? From there, we got into the Darnell Nurse eight-year contract extension that carries a $9.25 million cap hit and tried to break down why it's actually a reasonable deal for the Edmonton Oilers. We also spoke about Warren Foegele's three-year contract extension and how much all four of us are excited to see what he brings to the lineup in his first season with the Oilers. While we can still be upset about the Bear trade, I think a lot of us have started to turn the page and focus more on what Foegele will bring in instead. We also looked at some way too early line combinations after Bob Stauffer mused on his show that we could see McDavid and Draisaitl playing together 30-40% of the time, which, as expected, annoyed Oilers fans to no end.
