On this week’s episode, we talk stories we tell ourselves and others about who we are and what we are to be, and determine why we’re more than just one story. Girl with a traumatic childhood, Guy with a troubled past, Girl that had her baby in high school. We all know the types of backstories that get attention because they easily frame an individual and help others categorize that person quickly. But what if we didn’t use these narratives to define ourselves and others? What if we allowed ourselves to be more than one story, what if we all agreed that our histories would not define us, and what if we didn’t rely on the stories we’ve heard of others to define them before we get to know them? Listen as we discuss the dangers of the single story and how we can move ourselves and others beyond it.
