Prompted by reporters, US President Joe Biden says he's considering an Australian request to drop efforts to prosecute WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange who's wanted on espionage charges. 

Speaking a short time ago, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reiterated his calls for Julian Assange to be released. Independent Tasmanian MP Andrew Wilkie has been co-chair of the Bring Julian Assange Home Parliamentary Group, he says the remarks from the US President are "very encouraging."
