This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for November 26th, 2020.

The pandemic is hitting the old and the young in different ways. The latest surge is fueling a record number of nursing home outbreaks. The virus is spreading quickly inside long-term care facilities in the Midwest and Great Plains and re-emerging in facilities swamped by the first wave. More than 1,300 nursing homes across the U.S. reported having three or more confirmed cases during the first week of November — the highest number ever reported in a single week.

For the young, it’s anxiety. A study out of the University of Bristol in England shows the early stages of the pandemic and first lockdown caused the number of young people age 27 to 29 with anxiety to nearly double. And those anxiety levels stayed high even when lockdown restrictions began to ease in June.

That anxiety may get put to the test even further. Government scientists in the UK have warned relaxing restrictions over Christmas could lead to yet a third wave and more lockdowns in 2021. At least two advisors say the plan to let up to three family households mix indoors over Christmas threatens to overwhelm the National Health Service.

While you’re deciding whether or not to get a vaccine for Covid, your employer may not even give you a choice. Many employers are reportedly weighing whether they should make vaccination mandatory for employment. And yes, that’s legal.

Alabama Crimson Tide head football coach Nick Saban has tested positive…again. The first time it was determined the test was likely a false positive, but this time the 68-year-old is showing symptoms. Those symptoms are mild at present so he’s isolating at home. Undefeated Alabama is to play Auburn Saturday.
