This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Tuesday August 4th, 2020. President Trump said COVID-19 is “under control as much as you can control it” in an interview Monday night with Axios on HBO, in reference to the death toll, he said “It is what it is”. Negotiations continue on the latest coronavirus relief package. White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, said he was “not optimistic that there will be a solution in the very near term”. A corrections officer in Miami Dade County has died due to COVID-19. There are nearly 500 positive cases among inmates and employees of the Turner Gilford Knight Correctional Center. Protesters around the country are calling for science and health concerns to lead the conversation on reopening schools.  

The Secretary General of the UN called the coronavirus pandemic “the largest disruption of education ever” and that the world is facing a “generational catastrophe”. 340 passengers and crew are in isolation after a passenger tested positive for COVID-19 on board a cruise ship in the South Pacific. The Bahama’s will re-institute lockdown orders after a rise in cases and shortage of ICU beds. The Islands reopened to tourists in July.  French scientists are warning of a second wave of the virus in the fall. Reinforcing the need for social distancing, testing and isolation for those most at risk.
