We are asking our listeners who have enjoyed the tales from our independent coffee shops, both this year and last, to email us their info, and share a story of what makes their favorite local coffee shop, the best. We would love to record you telling your story! We all have more time now since social distancing, so why not put it to good use! The incredible drive north on the PCH will lead you to historic  town of Astoria Oregon. The historic wonderland and meeting of diverse cultures, sits on the bank of the Columbia River and is home to Coffee Girl inside the iconic Pier 39. To get to Coffee Girl be prepared to drive over a 500 foot long, 100 year old wood plank bridge. Our first guest this week is Floyd Holcom, CEO at Pier 39, and everyday visitor to Coffee Girl. Floyd gave us a masters class in the history of, and culture clashes of all things Astoria. Why did he buy the 28,000 square foot Bumblebee seafood cannery, built in 1875, and on an island? The fascinating history of Bumblebee Tuna, the packers association, and the Columbia River, is just a start. He either heard first hand,or has been a part of this fascinating history.
