Though DNA obtained as the result of the attacker raping Cheryl produced a strong profile, no one Detective Billy Belk and company could find was a match. Then, almost 20 years later, the biggest break in the case occurred when the DNA got a hit in CODIS. But there was a problem – the matched DNA also belonged to an unknown assailant.
