Submit ReviewPerforming as Cat Power, Chan Marshall’s new album, “Covers,” takes an almost audacious approach to covering an almost audaciously eclectic group of songs—something that have come to expect from her by now but still retains an element of surprise. The songs she's chosen come from a list of musicians that ranges from Billie Holiday to Frank Ocean to Bob Seger to Iggy Pop. While not a Brooklynite, she played some early shows here in Williamsburg … and will be playing one of her next shows at Brooklyn Steel, on April 18. We discuss her relationship to the city, we talk about her relationship to covers, to discovering new music and to motherhood (her son actually makes a cameo in this episode).
