Previously administered by the National Potato Council (NPC), the Potato Industry Leadership Institute (PILI) is a program of the Potato Leadership, Education, and Advancement Foundation (Potato LEAF), a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity focused on leadership and education opportunities for the U.S. potato industry. As the program celebrates 20 years of training future potato leaders, the Eye on Potatoes podcast brought together four graduates during Potato Expo 2023 to talk about their experiences and how PILI impacted their careers.  Guests:

  • Dave Warsh, participant of the 2002 Class and a past president of NPC
  • Derek Peterson, participant of the 2012 Class
  • Taylor Grant, participant of the 2022 Class
  • RJ Andrus, participant of the 2006 Class, Board Member of Potato LEAF, and 2023 NPC President

The Leadership Institute is a 10-day program that provides an overview of the U.S. potato industry, the challenges and issues beyond the production sector, and the roles of the industry’s state and national organizations in maintaining a positive business climate for potato growers.
