Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule spoke to the media Tuesday morning at the NFL Owners Meetings in Palm Beach, Florida. Rhule answered questions addressing the Panthers ongoing search at quarterback. Rhule stated that he believes that the incumbent starter at the position Sam Darnold will "take a huge step this year" working with new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo. If that is true then why are the Panthers pursuing other options at the position? Is the Panthers best option at adding competition to the quarterback room by drafting a rookie?

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that Cam Newton is receiving interest from several teams including the Carolina Panthers. The Athletic's Joe Person also reported that Newton was approached by the Panthers to be a backup had they acquired Deshaun Watson. Should Newton return to Carolina as a backup or should he be offered a real opportunity to compete for the starting job?
