The Carolina Panthers earned the first win of the Steve Wilks era by blowing out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 21-3, at Bank of America Stadium. The win represents possibly the most inexplicable win in franchise history considering the team was a 13-point home underdog, coming off back-to-back losses, and traded away Christian McCaffrey earlier in the week.

Wilks let it be known earlier in the week that the Panthers coaches and players had no interest in tanking the rest of the season. Julian Council explains why Sunday's victory is a loud statement for Wilks and his desire to turn around the Panthers season.

PJ Walker earned the start at QB for the second straight week as Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield continue to rehab ankle injuries. Walker had his best performance as a Panthers, throwing two touchdown passes. Following the game, Wilks was asked whether Walker would remain the starter when Darnold and Mayfield are back to health. Wilks responded by saying that "it would be tough" to take the job away from Walker. Should PJ remain the Panthers QB1?

Despite a 2-5 start to the season, the Panthers are 2-0 in the NFC South, and only a game back of first place, with tiebreakers over New Orleans and division-leading Tampa. Could the Panthers find themselves in the middle of a division race?
