He has a master's degree in applied statistics, and a Ph.D. in physics, from Purdue University. He has co-authored work published in journals in fields such as fluid dynamics, atmospheric science, physiological acoustics, chemometrics, medical imaging, microbiology, and human and veterinary medicine.
