Val Prozorova (
@valprozwriter) joins me from the far reaches of New Zealand to discuss one of the most landmark books in the LGBT canon: André Aciman's CALL ME BY YOUR NAME. We get into that 17 year old horny brainspace, age differences, and yes, we talk about peaches. Sorry.
Summary of CALL ME BY YOUR NAME
Elio Perlman is a 17 year old boy living in Italy with his scholar parents. Each summer, his parents allow a student to live with them to work on their own book and assist his father with scholarly work, and this summer, it's Oliver. Elio immediately falls in love with Oliver, despite their age difference and Oliver's seeming ambivalence to Elio's crush. Eventually, they consummate their relationship before Oliver disappears from Elio's life in Italy.
