As we stroll through the 2022 Arizona State Sun Devils football schedule, we arrive at the beginning of PAC-12 conference play with a home game against the Utah Utes. Utah is the reigning PAC-12 champions and is entering the 2022 season as the no.7 team in the AP top-25 poll, and rightfully so. The Utes, as coached by the great Kyle Wittingham, are led by 2021 First-Team All-PAC-12 quarterback Cameron Rising and a powerful run game that will give opposing defenses nightmares. Coupled with a great offensive line and dynamic tight ends in Brant Kuithe and Dalton Kincaid, the Utes will be able to drain opposing defenses of their will and dictate the pace of the game. Defensively, Utah must cope with the loss of PAC-12 Defensive Player of the Year Devin Lloyd, but the depth and youth here are outstanding. PAC-12 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year Junior Tafuna will become the face of this defense in just his second season, but he will be helped by stars in the making, Cole Bishop and Clark Phillips III, in the secondary. With so much talent and one of the greatest coaches in college football guiding this team, do the Arizona State Sun Devils have a chance to topple the goliath of the PAC-12?
