Submit ReviewNot too long ago, the Stanford Cardinal football program reigned supreme in the PAC-12 conference and was one of college football's most feared programs. However, the Cardinal has fallen apart recently, and Stanford is now a hollow shell of its former self. David Shaw remains the head coach throughout these hard times, and this should give Cardinal fans hope for a turnaround in the program soon rather than later. There are plenty of aspects to like about Stanford Cardinal football, including quarterback Tanner McKee. McKee showed off exceptional talent in his first season as a starter in Palo Alto, California, and another season behind a good offensive line and weapons like Benjamin Yurosek and Elijah Higgins could see him take that next step forward. Defensively, it doesn't get much lower than what the Cardinal put out in 2021, but a new-look defensive scheme and the return of stars like Kyu Blu Kelly may be able to right the ship in 2022. As for its matchup with the Arizona State Sun Devils football program in week eight, the game may be closer than last year's bout. The Sun Devil decimated and embarrassed the Cardinal 28-10 and picked apart everything that Stanford tried to do. Could that be different in 2022 with the game returning to Palo Alto? Host Richie Bradshaw gives his thoughts on this game for our continued breakdown series of the 2022 Arizona State Sun Devils football schedule on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.
