Brittney Yevette Griner is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association. She played college basketball for the Baylor Lady Bears in Waco, Texas. She is the only NCAA basketball player to both score 2,000 points and block 500 shots.

After a Russian court sentenced WNBA star Brittney Griner to nine years in prison for a drug smuggling conviction on Thursday, the player's supporters, teammates and numerous US officials swiftly condemned the decision, many concerned that her detention is being used to advance Russia's agenda in the Ukraine war.

Now, Griner has returned to the detention center where she was held during her weeks-long trial as her lawyers vow to appeal the sentence and the Biden administration attempts to negotiate for her release.

During the trial, Griner pleaded guilty to carrying less than 1 gram of cannabis oil in her luggage as she traveled through a Moscow airport on February 17.

Amber Heard sold her desert hideaway in July — just six weeks after her ex-husband Johnny Depp won a $10.35 million judgment against her in his defamation trial.

Heard, 36, unloaded her Yucca Valley digs in Southern California for $1,050,000 — nearly double what she paid for it.

The luxury home was purchased in 2019 for $570,000 through an anonymous trust that had ties to the "Aquaman" actress, according to property records and TMZ.

Monica Lewinsky, the former White House intern who became embroiled in a sex scandal with then President Bill Clinton in the 1990s, tweeted the news of Beyoncé removing an abelist slur from the song "Heated" on her new album "Renaissance" with a suggestion.

"uhmm, while we're at it... #Partition,"Lewinsky tweeted.

"Partition" is a track from the singer's 2013 self-titled fifth studio album. In the song, Beyoncé sings that a man "Monica Lewinsky'd all on my gown."

In 2021, Lewinsky told CNN's Jake Tapper that "what's really important to remember in today's world is that we never should have even gotten to a place where consent was a question." "So it was wholly inappropriate as the most powerful man, my boss, 49 years old," she said. "I was 22, literally just out of college.
