Anacostia and Ward 8 D.C. have always been artistically rich. But the wealth in creativity hasn’t always been matched by resources.

In this hour, Kojo Nnamdi talks with artists, officials, and community members about the art scene, arts education, and the intersection of arts and gentrification. Plus, we hear about a new effort to boost the local arts scene: A nearly $4 million grant to the area to create an Anacostia Arts District.

This broadcast is an edited version of a live Kojo In Our Community event that took place on February 28, 2023 at the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC).
