The current negotiations to end the lockout have made our heads spin. Our own Dominic Cotroneo did his best to comb through everything and boil it down to a 15 minute episode that is a lot easier to digest than a million written articles. This episode covers purely the basics that are on the table such as: the luxury tax, the proposed expanded playoffs, revenue sharing, arbitration, service time, and the proposed draft lottery. While explaining the issues at hand with core economics, we also tell you what each side wants and why. When it comes to explaining why the owners are asking for a federal mediator to facilitate negotiations, there isn't much to say since the players are unlikely to agree to this provision. The article that Dom mentions from The Athletic can be found here: https://theathletic.com/1130731/2019/08/12/you-set-me-up-i-couldnt-win-an-oral-history-of-the-1994-mlb-strike-from-both-sides-of-the-bargaining-table/ As always, reach out to us on Twitter, @LockedOnBrewers, @Dom_Cotroneo, and @VinnyRottino when it comes to lockout related questions. This is a complicated topic that takes more than a singular podcast episode to solve. Thanks for listening, enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
