For Black History Month, we are focusing on Black art, from artists working today, to Black art history. Author Zaria Ware's new book, Blk Art: The Audacious Legacy of Black Artists and Models in Western Art, is a retelling of how Black models and artists were crucial in the development of Western artistic movements. But many never received recognition. Names have been lost to history, or stored away by Museums and collectors. As the art world reckons with racism and representation, this book traces how Black identity was exploited and subsequently erased from Western art history. Ware joins us to discuss.
