EPISODE 24: US FIRST
Perhaps today, as we head into a weekend of art fairs in LA, there’s no better time to discuss the social experience of art. That isolating, alienating illusion of a community art event that is the art fair–curated towards private experience and consumption, not towards inter-relational context, interaction or collective meaning making.
There is an alternative to fair loneliness this weekend, and it revolves around the concept of relational aesthetics. For this we head to the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art to speak with curators Dalibor Polivka and Rob Mintz and participating artist Vincent Sabella in the final hours of installation for the group exhibition You First, opening October 1, from 5 to 10pm.
