One hundred years ago this month, the 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote. Since then, women have continued to push our country's values forward. To commemorate the amendment's 100th anniversary, USA TODAY is recognizing 100 Women of the Century who have made significant impacts in a wide variety of fields.

In this episode, the legendary Rita Moreno, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, human rights activist Helen Zia, and icon Gloria Estefan tell us how no one paved the way for them. Instead, they forged their own paths, and those of countless women since. You can see more from our Women of the Century at usatoday.com/womenofthecentury, including an expanded list representing women from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and U.S. territories. You can also read columns from our Editor-in-Chief Nicole Carroll explaining the project, and explore content profiling individuals. If you know someone who you think is a 'woman of the century,' nominate her online.

This podcast was produced by Claire Thornton and Hannah Gaber.
