Submit ReviewIn this episode of Across The Park Extra, the 3 blues; Millsy, Judgy & Craig, sit down with Everton legend and fan favourite ‘Super’ Lee Carsley. The lad’s take Lee through the timeline of his Everton career, asking questions on both his own time at the club (2002-2008), as well as the news and rumours which surrounded the club at the time. We start at the beginning, with the pressure of signing on an initial loan, on the same day as David Ginola, into a struggling side, where he quickly seen Walter Smith and Paul Gascoigne, replaced by David Moyes, coinciding with the emergence of Wayne Rooney. We ask Lee how he really felt about his time playing right midfield during the 2002-2003 season, before Lee breaks down the 2003-2004 campaign that ended with a scathing article from the local press questioning the players spirit. This season of course, preceded the famous 2004 summer pre season in USA which was a catalyst for the team to kick on to a 4th place finish in 2005 . We ask all things from mercurial talent Wayne Rooney, Sylvester Stallone, Andy Van Der Meyde, his neighbour Tommy Graveson and the loss of Duncan Ferguson. Lee opens upon his ‘best’ season in an Everton shirt; 2007 – 2008, when he describes European nights against Nuremberg and Fiorentina as nights that will never leave him, before Lee reveals the reason why he eventually quit the blues despite still having the chance to play on. Lee’s passion, honesty and love for Everton FC shines through in this must listen episode of Across The Park extra!
