Everton begin the season with consecutive losses for just the 2nd time in the PL era after falling 2-1 away to Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa side. Stateside Toffees who woke up early for this one likely felt a certain amount of regret after an uneventful first half was marked by a Danny Ings goal to put the Villains in the driver's seat. Buendia added another late in the second half which looked to effectively end the match before a Lucas Digne own goal injected some life into the Blues as stoppage time approached, where they nearly grabbed an equalizer.
Ryan, Alex and James get into all the details: Doucoure's injury, Coady's first start, Onana's debut, Frank's questionable subs. As always we get some great comments from our listeners that help drive the discussion, including the critical importance of additional business being completed before the transfer window closes.
