But before getting into that wonderful complexity of a story, it’s time for entertainment news.

Starting with a trailer for “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”, a sci-fi movie with epic scenes and a complex, colorful, CGI heavy look reminiscent of “Jupiter Ascending” and hopefully all similarities end there. This movie may actually have a chance with director Luc Besson of “The Fifth Element”, “Leon: The Professional” and the whole “Taken” series. He will also be directing Lucy 2, with whatever story line that will suddenly make her turn back to a physical person.

Next standout trailer for this week is “Collateral Beauty”, a Will Smith movie where he breaks out the feels with his famous cry face that will reach into your heart and pull out your wallet. It’s like “A Christmas Carol”, where the ghost are elements of life, like Time, Love and Death. Add an all-star cast and this movie is sure to be an award winner.

In movie news, it seems Hollywood is at it again, thinking they can take a popular character from an ensemble movie and somehow make them stand-alone. A recipe that seems to have had more memorable failures than wins. However, that won’t be stopping them from giving Harley Quinn her own stand-alone movie as well as Bumblebee, the non-talking Transformer.

In more “Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them” news, David Yates has agreed to direct all 5 movies and Johnny Depp will in fact play Grindlewald. The movies are to span 19 years till the end of World War II that suspiciously seems to coincide with Dumbledores great defeat of Grindlewald.

Moving on to What We’re Watching, “Westworld” has had a big reveal that has fulfilled many a fans theories.

“American Horror Story” seems to have lost its way and with it being the second to the last episode, there may not be a chance for the show to redeem its self.

“South Park” delivered another election results episode, where it was rumored they had recorded two episodes to cover either candidate. It’s keeping to the same linear storyline it has all year, including the member berries.

On to the main feature: “Arrival”

A movie based on a Sci-Fiction Short Story by Ted Chiang “Story of Your Life” (1998). It’s a movie where “Interstellar” meets “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “Contact”. It’s a thought-provoking movie that has all the originality that many blockbusters movie seem to lack.

It is certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 93% and on IMDB with an 8.5.

It has an estimated budget of 50 million, which over half was already made opening weekend with 28 Million worldwide.

It has Canadian Director Denis Villeneuve, known for “Sicario”, “Prisoners” and the new upcoming “Blade runner 2049”

Writer is Eric Heisserer, usually known for horror movies like “The Thing” (2011), “Lights Out”, and the remade “A Nightmare on Elm Street”

Check out this awesome article written by Heisserer about how he wrote arrival Here.

The movie touches on many different thought provoking elements such as the theory of time as we know it and the complexities of the human language and general communication. This is all presented by a strong cast in a tense environment filmed with great cinematography.

To say anymore is to give it away, so on to “What you should be watching”.

This week Tiffany suggest the first through third season of “Broad City” in anticipation of the release of season 4 at the beginning of next year.

There is also to finally be a “Young Justice” season 3 in work, giving fans of animated DC shows a chance o catch up on the first two seasons.

Ricardo then suggest the movie “The Big Short”, another thought provoking movie much like “Arrival” but with a much lighter and fun atmosphere.

Come back and listen next week when the team will be covering “Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them”
