As we begin wrapping up our series of breaking down Arizona State Sun Devils football positional groups before we head into spring practices, our next stop leads us to the secondary; a unit that is facing a ton of change. Four of the team's five starters from last season have departed the program for various reasons, with Shamari Simmons returning as the lone starter. It'll be up to him to step up and man a unit that has no shortage of talent but a lack of playing experience. Starting at cornerback, Ed Woods feels like the safest bet to be the team's top dog. He's joined by several others vying for playing time, including veteran Macen Williams, transfers Javan Robinson and Latterence Welch, plus all the second-year guys and incoming freshmen. There's also star transfer Cole Martin, who looks to fill the shoes of Jordan Clark, who transferred to Notre Dame. At safety, Simmons leads a deep group that looks as strong as any position on this team. With the return of Xavion Alford and Montana Warren, plus transfer additions like Myles "Ghost" Rowser and Kamari Wilson, the Sun Devils are loaded on the backend.
