Submit ReviewWhile the world waits to see if the Lakers can swing a trade for Kyrie Irving with Brooklyn - a tough proposition given that Brooklyn will almost certainly wait until they get resolution on the Kevin Durant situation before moving Kyrie - could L.A. again be looking in another direction? A familiar direction? ESPN's Dave McMenamin reports the Lakers are again exploring a trade that would bring Indiana's Buddy Hield to Los Angeles. Remember, it was Hield the Lakers were set to acquire before going in a VERY different direction and acquiring Russell Westbrook from Washington, instead.
So what would a trade for Hield look like? Could the Lakers do that AND still stay in the Irving sweepstakes? What if they have to choose? If nothing else, do the Lakers have to do SOMETHING that brings in more shooting before the season starts?
Meanwhile, Westbrook, LeBron James and Anthony Davis reportedly spoke during the first week of NBA Summer League, in an effort to make sure they were on the same page. But some of the details, particularly around the timing, are kind of fuzzy. Was it before the Big Freeze Out? Was it after? Was any progress undercut by what appeared to be Tweets from LeBron and Rich Paul trolling Westbrook over the breakup with his agent? Were those Tweets meant that way?
At this point, can anything really be done to tamp down the speculation that LeBron and Westbrook just aren't on good terms at this point? If they said otherwise, would people believe them?
There's still a long way to go before training camp starts, which could be good... or maybe not.
