On this episode of the show, Dan and Mark are joined by Spider-Man comics artist Erik Larsen who penciled Amazing Spider-Man roughly from issue 327 to 350, bringing his unique style to the book and following up his friend and collaborator Todd McFarlane.
He would then succeed McFarlane again for his “The Return of the Sinister Six” in Spider-Man #18-23. Larsen helped to distinctly change the style of the webslinger’s books that we still see reflected today. Erik left Marvel to form Image Comics and created his own series Savage Dragon, which still runs today with Larsen at the creative helm, where he won an Inkwell Award for his work in 2017. But, most surprisingly, it was recently announced that Erik would be returning to Marvel this September, alongside Mark Bagley and Gerry Conway, for a special Marvel 80th Anniversary one-shot called Amazing Spider-Man: Going Big.
