We are kicking off this brand new series with a phenomenal conversation I was blessed to have recently with Singer/Songwriter Effie, who also happens to be a good friend of mine.

This was a no holds barred conversation about following soul purpose, navigating anxiety and embracing the journey.  We also talked about the impact of the George Floyd case on global awareness and awakening as well as Effie’s own experiences as a mixed race female living in London when the story broke.

As always I’d love to hear your comments and questions around this episode so do please reach out to me using the links in the show notes and don’t forget you can join me live every Thursday at 8pm GMT over in our Facebook Group - the link is below.

I’ll be joined this week by Effie and as usual we’ll be taking questions so please get in touch if you have a question or comment for us.

After being crowned NME Emerging Artist 2018, Effie returned the following year with her first single in 4 years. As an independent artist, Effie has gained great traction appearing on numerous features and Spotify playlists.   Lending her vocals to dance duo Just Kiddin on ‘Body Talk’ as well as writing and performing ‘3 Words’ with FooR, gaining the support of BBC Radio 1’s MistaJam and DJ Target, Capital XTRA, and KISS and 3 million plays on Spotify, Effie now turns her attention back to her personal project. Effie uses her unmistakable voice and creates soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics into a unique sound. With influences from the likes of SZA, Amy Winehouse and Stevie Wonder, you can hear how Effie takes inspiration from her love of soul and perfectly blends it with urban electronic sounds.   Having picked up support from notable magazines Clash and Notion, performing on home soil and stateside, Effie has no intention of slowing down and is about to begin her most momentous chapter yet.
