Submit ReviewOn today’s show, recorded in our mobile podcast studio storytella, I sit down with Aleali May, model, stylist, and fashion designer, who has worked with some of the cornerstones of streetwear and has been called the Queen of Sneakers by ESPN magazine, She’s put her spin on some of the most iconic Jordan silhouettes and has always dressed for her younger self. Born and raised in South Central LA, she loved taking on a challenge and facing it head on, whether it was riding bikes with the boys in her neighborhood or learning a dance routine with the girls, she never backed down from a challenge.
Aleali’s style and perspective is a giant mixing bowl of her upbringing. The LA influence from the Slauson Super Mall, her dad’s interest in Bike club culture, her uncle starting her love of Jordan’s, her granny’s flair for glamour and her mother’s Sade inspired fashion and the timelessness of the early aughts is all in the fabric of how Aleali presents herself to the world.
