On May 21, Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 was flying 211 passengers when it hit some unexpected turbulence. Many passengers suffered head and spinal injuries, and sadly one passed away after it's believed his heart gave out. 

But what happened? What is turbulence? Can pilots avoid it? Is it deadly?
