We continue our interview series by welcoming Canadian NASCAR driver Amber Balcaen as a very especial guest. Amber is a third-generation motorsports athlete who made history in 2016 when she became the first Canadian woman to win a NASCAR sanctioned race in the USA. Often referred to as the “underdog of NASCAR,” Amber has overcome much adversity to make her way into the world of professional stock car racing. As a business graduate, Amber has an acute understanding of marketing and the motorsports industry. This has been crucial to her success creating and nurturing relationships with sponsors, which is critical to securing the funding necessary to compete at the highest levels. We discuss Amber’s humble beginnings karting on dirt tracks, her transition to tarmac with a move to stock car racing in the USA, her personal fitness regime, mental health in motorsports, the importance of sponsors and much more.
