Aislene and Gracie discuss the legacy that this film, which was selected by the US National Film Registry in 2016 to be preserved by the National Library of Congress because of it's "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant"
Directed by Jennie Livingstone, Filmed in the mid-to-late 1980s, it chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the African-American, Latino, gay, and transgender communities involved in it.
Both Aislene and Gracie are cis white women discussing this movie about Gay, Transgender People of Colour and thus can not give the justice of knowing the experience. We can empathize but they are not our experiences. Please enjoy this episode of The Feminist Critique.
