This week is a fascinating interview with a remarkable young man named Elliot, who suffers from a neurological condition called periventricular leukomalacia, the result of a brain injury that occurs during childbirth. It can manifest in many different ways, including cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis, and it damage to very specific regions of the brain. Elliott’s story - the way he recognized this condition in himself - is truly amazing. He reached out because, for him, one of the manifestations is impaired motivation, specifically to participate in unstructured social situations, and also very little pleasure or satisfaction in such. He is technically an incel, I think, in that he’s celibate, and it’s not entirely voluntary, though he doesn’t seek out relationships for the above reasons… well, he does listen to the podcast and he thought a lot of incels out there might be suffering from something similar. And I think he might be right! —————————————————————— "A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to Left" by Andrew Bird. 2005, c/o Wegawam Music Co. —————————————————————— Today’s episode is sponsored by Magic Mind Elixir!
