For this episode of Life in the Peloton, I chatted to Simon Mottram, who founded Rapha back in 2004. I was really interested to hear what drove him to start the company and particularly his comment that Rapha is not a clothing company, it's a cycling company. Simon's passion for cycling shines through and it's fair to say that Rapha has changed the way we think about style on the bike. As you probably know my team, EF Education-Nippo, wears Rapha kit and so I wanted to find out more about the man who puts the jerseys on our backs. It was commissioned by the production company behind Channel 4’s coverage of the Tour de France in the 1980s and was used as the theme music for the nightly highlights show. Pete died in December 2018. We were given permission by Pete’s widow and his manager to continue using the music for the theme tune to Life in the Peloton.
