Better bring the bug spray and join Amy and Harley investigate the Gallinipper as we explore the ghost town of Averasboro, NC. On this week’s episode, we have a ton of history on one of the weirdest cryptids we have ever covered. What is a Gallinipper? How about a man-sized mosquito that can drain all of your blood in one gulp. This oddity has a long and varied history with ties to Native American lore and connections to England and India. Although the town of Averasboro is all but defunct, you can still visit the area, and feed the mosquitos. You can also stop by the stump of the Gypsy Pine and maybe come face-to-face with a Genius Loci or Land Spirit. Amy tries to once again explain why she is a big baby that will let a few man-sized bugs keep her away from the experience of a lifetime. If you are planning a trip to North Carolina to search for the Gallinipper, bring some Raid, you are gonna need it! No Episode of the Travel Oddities Podcast would be complete without a place to grab a bite, and you really need to check out Fred Chason’s Grandsons for some hot-off-the-grill bar-b-que chicken and a tall glass of sweet tea. Brett has found The Top 5 things you never knew that you really needed to know when visiting North Carolina. gallinipper.htm">Gallinipper Info Stories about Gallinipper American Gallinipper Insect Info Defense against the Dark Arts Book about the Gallinipper Ship Gallinipper Shipwreck and-monsters-averasboro.html?m=1">Monster Blog Music by Mike Masse Broken Wings performed by Mike Masse Subscribe, Rate & Review – ITunes Google Play Stitcher You can support our efforts anytime you shop on Amazon – To Shop Amazon for Any and All Items, Just Click Here Share us with your friends – Facebook Twitter You can share original art, clips, show ideas, trip reports or writing a blog entry for our page.
