(There was some technical issues at the end of the podcast and Gracie's microphone cut out. I tried to do my best with editing the podcast so there isn't a issues with the delay.)  As part of Canadian Movie Month, we watched a television movie about residential schools in Canada.  The film stars Michelle St. John as Ashtoh-Komi, a young Kainai girl captured and confined to the residential school system of the 1930s. The system was an attempt to have aboriginal youth to assimilate into the majority European-Canadian culture. Ashtoh-Komi resists assimilation and plans her escape. Aislene and Gracie discuss the lasting impact of residential schools on the First Nations people of Canada as well as if the film is considered feminist and inclusive.
