Q&A and The Trouble with Edward.

The first two Short Treks of Season Two offer a glimpse into what we all hope will be a new Captain Pike series. In “Q&A,” we see Ensign Spock’s transfer to the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 and the first meeting of the legendary science officer and Number One. In “The Trouble with Edward,” we meet a newly promoted captain trying to contain Tribbles in a very comical way. Although not a direct tie-in to Discovery, these short stories add richness to what we know about the 23rd century.

In this episode of The Edge, hosts Amy Nelson and Patrick Devlin discuss “Q&A” and “The Trouble with Edward.” What worked for us and made us laugh out loud? How do these Short Treks relate to Season Two of Discovery? We compare and contrast these stories with those of last season’s Short Treks to discover the general direction of the Star Trek universe.
