Today's Guest: Rose Marie, actress, comedienne, "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "The Doris Day Show"   LOS ANGELES - AUGUST 16: The Dick Van Dyke Show cast members from left: Rose Marie (as Sally Rogers) and Morey Amsterdam (as Buddy Sorrell). Hollywood, CA. Image dated August 16, 1961. (Photo by CBS via Getty Images) (NOTE: Rose Marie died today, December 28, 2017 at age 94. She was truly one-of-a-kind and I greatly enjoyed my time with her as you can hear during this 2012 podcast interview! -- Bob Andelman) She was the live wire, wise crackin’, anything but predictable female comedy writer on “The Alan Brady Show,” the show-within-a-show portion of “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” And yes, that was 50 years ago. And yes, Rose Marie is still working, still getting gigs and still making Betty White look over her shoulder and go, “Really?” Because the show has been in repeats for decades, the actress who played “Sally Rogers” for five seasons on one of TV’s finest sitcoms ever is known the world over. But that was hardly the last the world heard from Rose Marie. ROSE MARIE podcast excerpt: "The Dick Van Dyke Show was so well written. The cast was perfect for the show and we didn't do anything that would hurt anybody. And every show is a classic."  In addition to two seasons as “Myrna” on “The Doris Day Show,” her guest starring appearances have included everything from “The Monkees” and “Adam-12” to “The Love Boat” and “Murphy Brown.” And let’s not forget all those spots on “Hollywood Squares”!
