Did you catch any episodes of the limited series “Downward Dog” this summer? I know you hear this about a lot of great shows these days – “Better Call Saul,” “Veep,” “Silicon Valley,” “Master of None,” and so on – but this Dog really is special. It’s narrated by a voice like none other, in fact: it’s Martin – the show’s star – a devoted and neurotic rescue dog. The show is funny and kooky as Martin takes us through life with his companion, Nan – played by Allison Tolman – and her on-again, off-again boyfriend. It’s a great show for family viewing – mostly – and, if you love animals, you will find it irresistible. Michael Killen and Samm Hodges co-created and co-wrote the show and are currently racing to find a new home for “Downward Dog” so that it can continue.
