April is National Alcohol Responsibility Month in the United States and today we get to talk to the Executive Director of Responsibility.org.  Responsible drinking is something that is a dark area of American culture and a lot of it not talked about in the world of parenting or being an adult.

We touch on a big idea here in this episode about being responsible for your own life and the choices you make and don't make have a direct correlation to the success you experience in life.

As parents, we need to understand that the only wrong thing to do when it comes to having this talk with our kids is NOT HAVING IT.

The #1 influence on a kid's choice to drink responsibly is their parents, and if we don't talk about it they will watch our actions or someones elses.

Topics Covered:

  • Planting the seeds of responsibility when they are young that carry over into being an adult.
  • Kids have a curiosity to learn and understand the world around them.
  • The emotional connection to alcohol and drug use
  • The patterns of your behavior will repeat with your kids
  • Drinking is not a coping mechanism
  • Tools for veterans facing alcohol and drug issues
  • Difference between Mental Health and Mental Wellness
  • Breaking the behavior groove of your habits to change the direction we are headed
  • Is letting your kids drink in your presence good or bad?
  • Having the talk with your kids > https://bit.ly/2WTfyLe
  • The many things that come from dad and we need to be active in their life
